Chemicals for Lubrication Industry

Charin offers three broad categories of raw materials to serve the Lubricant market; base oils, lubricant additives and thickeners. Our team of lubrication consultants can offer assistance in selecting the best materials to suit your technical and environmental compliance needs. Our principals provide registration of products that comply with the requirements of REACH regulation.

Base Oils

The American Petroleum Institute (API) has categorized base oils into five categories (API 1509, Appendix E) and Charin Energy is active in the supply of each of these categories. The base oils from groups I, II and III are all refined from petroleum crude oil while polyalphaolefins (PAO, Gr. IV) are fully synthetic oils. We also offer all other base oils which belong to group V as well as supply low viscosity base oils and other speciality oils such as process oils & white oils.

SN100 SN150 SN300
SN350 SN400 SN500
SN600 SN650 SN900
100N 150N 230N

Charin Energy supplies high quality group III base oils that are manufactured from hydrocracked process and are finished to yield bright and colourless liquid appearance. They have superior low temperature performance and have the following properties as a minimum;

  • a very high viscosity index (>120)
  • low sulphur content (< 0.03%)
  • high saturates (> 90%)

Our capabilities in Group IV base oils includes supply of polyalphaolefins (PAO) and metallocene polyalphaolefin (mPAO) advanced synthetic base oils that are designed to provide you with great blending efficiency and performance capabilities of final product. These yield the following properties;

  • high viscosity index for high performance at a wide temperature range
  • shear stability, for long drain intervals
  • low-temperature properties, for cold-start capability and fluidity.
We supply the following grades at 100°C;
PAO 2 cSt PAO 4 cSt PAO 6 cSt
mPAO 65 cSt mPAO 100 cSt mPAO 150 cSt

Group V base oils include phosphate ester, polyalkylene glycol (PAG), polyolester, biolubes, etc. These base oils are at times used as property enhancers for other base stocks by mixing them with such base oils. Esters are also group V base oils used in different lubricant formulations to improve the properties of the existing base oil.

Please contact us with any specific group V base oil requirements and we will be able to help.

Lubricant Additives

Additives are organic or inorganic compounds that lube oil blenders mix with base oils to achieve any or a combination of the following;

  • Enhance existing base oil properties with antioxidants, corrosion inhibitors, anti-foam agents and demulsifying agents.
  • Suppress undesirable base oil properties with pour-point depressants and viscosity index (VI) improvers.
  • Add new properties to base oils with extreme pressure (EP) additives, detergents, etc

In the additives segment, Charin Energy constantly identifies innovative additives that we introduce to customers as a value adder to their product blending activities. Charin supplies additives within the following functional categories;

Antioxidants Friction Modifiers
Antiwear Corrosion Inhibitors
Viscosity Index Improver Extreme Pressures
Antifoam Detergents, Dispersants & Emulsifiers
Solvents Demulsifiers
Rust Preventatives Packages

The lubricating effect of mineral oils can be extended across a wider temperature range by adding thickeners to low viscosity oils. Charin Energy supplies non-soap thickeners.
